TGIF!! Hairstyle Ideas for the Club

It’s the weekend! Finally Friday has rolled around and it’s time to go out and party it up. Today, I have a few edgy hairstyle options for a night out on the town because as we know… Sometimes the hardest thing is figuring out what to do with our hair!

The Feminine Low Cut

Let’s start with the most basic of styles. All of my women who have done the big chop are familiar with this one. I’ve recently revisited this style and I love it. All you need is a good barber and a lot of self-confidence to rock this cut. Top it off with a good brush and some big earrings and POW! Instant swag. Some examples of celebrities who have rocked this look to the fullest are Kanye West’s ex-girlfriend Amber Rose and Chrisette Michele. This also works during the week paired with some nice stud earrings and believe me when I say this is low maintenance. Just get up, brush your hair and go. If only everything could be this simple…

You have to admit, there’s something about bantu knots that has party written all over them. To create this style you will need a freshly washed head of medium-length hair, some product (think Kinky Curly Curling Custard) and a comb. After washing and conditioning hair, part hair into sections, apply product and you can either twist the hair and then pinch about an inch of hair at the root and wrap the ends around it or you can wrap the hair around the root without twisting first. Both ways get the job done just fine. You can also slick down any baby hairs you have in the front as shown in the picture for a more finished effect. I wouldn’t consider this style office appropriate, but once you’ve had your night out on the town you can let down the bantu knots for the following style.

Soft Curls

The beauty about bantu knots is that once they’ve been let down they create these gorgeous soft curls. You can jazz it up as shown in the picture to the left or you can wear it down and complement it with the headband of your choice for a more tame look. If you have plans to party both Friday and Saturday night you can wear the bantu knots on Friday and let them down on Saturday. The choice is up to you.

There are quite a few benefits of opting for a natural hairstyle when going to a club as opposed to straightening one’s hair. For those of you who actually go to the club to do more than just stand up and look pretty,  I’ll have you know that at the end of the night when everyone has sweat out their perms and weaves you will still be looking fresh to death. The joy of curly hair is that volume adds to the appeal of the look. Not to mention that curly hair thrives off of moisture so once you make sure to moisturize your hair properly at home, any additional moisture will only make it behave itself even further. With that said, enjoy the weekend and party responsibly.  Love, Peace and Hair Grease.
